However, within the majority of petro chemical decommissioning programmes it is normal to use the Benefil® 2000 grade and this provides a lightweight fill alternative (approximately 25 kg/m3) that has many other useful attributes, including:
  • It has a cured structural strength of approximately 130 kPa (kN/m2)
    It is resistant to almost all chemicals including hydro-carbons
    It is solvent free, non-toxic and non-flammable
    Is environmentally friendly
    Has a very short hardening time
    Is proofed against inorganic solutions


  • One self contained resin delivery truck can produce upto 10 times as much Benefil®.
    Will not deteriorate for a period of at least 150 years.

    Is foamed during the working procedure and is guaranteed to fill 100% of the asset.
    Contains the raw materials on water basis and urea.

    This basis material consists of 80% nitrogen and is harmless to the environment (research reports can be sent on request).

    If required Benefil® is easily removed.
    Benefil® can be recycled or readily disposed of at landfill sites.


  • Notes:
    The material should not be exposed to prolonged UV light or repeated abrasion through foot traffic, vehicular traffic or any other mechanical action that might wear-down the foam (if the foam is covered with soil, or some other material, then it will remain unaffected by these considerations).


  • Given Benefil® can be made to the Clients exact requirements on site, TankSafe among others have undertaken many hundreds of kilometres of pipeline filling over the years. Filling a fuel system or pipeline with Benefil® means that not only can that system be ensured redundant with no future mistakes being made regarding misconnections but also any product in the system being filled is decanted completely and replaced by inflammable Benefil® therefore also ensuring the network to be entirely safe.
    Depending on the grade of Benefil® specified the product can be pushed for long distances between any given injection and ventilation point however obviously these capabilities also depend on the diameter and type of system/pipeline being filled.

  • In less than two hours disused fuel tanks are made safe to authorities' requirements.
    Benefil® absorbs hydro-carbons, making tanks safe from explosion and adding little appreciable weight.
    So tanks can be later removed, transported whole and cut up safely.
    Clean Benefil® can be recycled or used as landfill.

    Safe: No heat, no electricity required and residual hydrocarbons are absorbed by the Benefil®.
